The Brilliant Dam is located on the Kootenay River near Castlegar. Selkirk Paving constructed 2.0 km of access road from the intersection of Highway 3A to the new powerhouse. SPL also carried out all the excavation for the new powerhouse (this excavation was 30 m below existing river elevation), as well as the excavation for the tailrace, intake tunnels, and channel improvements. SPL crushed the concrete aggregates required for the project from the excavated rock; this aggregate was hauled to the CRM plant in Castlegar where it was used for the production of the concrete that was required for the project.
